The 9 PM problem

Six tabs to answer one question.

  • 9:02 PMOne question: is the fleet okay tonight?
  • 9:10 PMELD tab, fuel card portal, spreadsheet, email
  • 9:38 PMFour tabs deep, still no answer

The answer should be one glance, not an evening.

While you slept

The morning glance assembles itself.

Fleet Health

Know your fleet health instantly.

A single compliance score tells you exactly where your fleet stands. Health rings break it down by documents, filings, drivers, maintenance, and safety, so you know what needs attention without digging.

Action Items

Action items, not data dumps.

Your dashboard surfaces what matters. Expiring registrations, blocked requests, HOS violations from a connected Samsara or Motive ELD, all prioritized by urgency. Mark items done and they animate away.

How the night shift runs it

Why a fleet dashboard matters (and why most don't work)

I've sat at kitchen tables with fleet owners running 8, 15, 40 trucks. The story always rhymes. There's a binder, a spreadsheet, a sticky note on the monitor, and a calendar reminder that fired off two weeks ago and got dismissed in a rush.

The owner can answer any question about any truck (which is impressive). The problem is the answer lives in their head, and the second they take a day off the whole thing wobbles.

A real dashboard fixes that by collapsing the kitchen-table system into one screen. The screen answers the 3 questions you actually ask every morning: what's broken, what's about to expire, and what changed overnight. We tried walls of charts in an early build and ripped them out within a month.

The fleet health score, explained

Every vehicle and driver in your DOCKEX account contributes points to a single rolled-up score. Registration current? Points. CDL expiring in 9 days? Points docked. Inspection cleared this week? Score nudges back up.

The score lands as an A-F grade with a percentage, and 5 rings underneath (documents, filings, drivers, maintenance, safety). When the grade slips, the rings tell you which lever to pull (it's usually documents or drivers, and it's usually a CDL or a registration sitting inside the 30-day window).

I built the grade because owners kept asking "how am I doing?" and I didn't want to hand them a 12-tab report. One letter, 5 rings, done.

Action inbox over data dumps

Dashboards die when they show you 47 widgets and zero verbs. DOCKEX sorts the day into an inbox: registration X is 12 days out, driver Y's medical card cleared, truck 308's last inspection flagged a brake adjustment.

Tap an item, take the action, watch it animate off the list. The inbox shrinks as you work. That's the loop.

Behind the scenes, DOCKEX is ranking items by deadline pressure, CSA exposure, and downstream blast radius (one expired plate that takes a truck off the road for a Tuesday hits harder than a tire rotation that slipped a week). Smart nudges flag the cost-savers (renew the long-term plan before the auto-renew kicks up the price, swap a high-cost shop assignment to the in-network vendor, etc.).

The morning AI briefing

Open the dashboard in the morning and DOCKEX has a short briefing waiting for your fleet. What's due in the next 7 days, anything that broke (a fault code, a missed check-in, a failed inspection), and one recommendation pulled from the data (usually a savings opportunity or a compliance risk worth knowing about). It's on every tier, no upgrade required.

It's the version of the morning huddle I always wanted: short, specific, and already prioritized so the team isn't fishing through 4 systems before coffee. Read it in 60 seconds, hit the road.

If you're still running the kitchen-table system, the move is to read why spreadsheets stop working past 10 trucks, then pop your fleet into DOCKEX and let the dashboard pull it all into one screen.
