Dockex vs. Fleetio
Fleetio reminds. Dockex files.
Fleetio doesn't file anything. Your admin spends 1.5 hrs per renewal on manual state filing through the state's portal. Then you hire a compliance consultant — or DIY and eat the audit risk. Three cost centers, one of them is your time, zero things filed. Dockex preps everywhere and files for you in Oklahoma under a signed authorization (Texas next) — with 2290 and UCR filed for you nationwide on Professional and up.
Based on 100 public G2 reviews read cover-to-cover. Zero mention DQ, IFTA, IRP, 2290, Clearinghouse. Those aren't their features. They're ours.

28 trucks. Compliance Autopilot running. Q1 2026 IFTA filed. 90 days of operations loaded. Every feature unlocked. 24-hour sandbox; keep it as your real account if it beats your Fleetio bill.
The math
Three real fleet sizes. Fleetio software + the hours your admin loses to manual state filing through the state's portal + your compliance load, versus Dockex flat pricing. State fees pass through both sides. Bring your invoices to a demo and we'll do the exact math for your fleet.

Fleetio rates per fleetio.com/pricing — Premium $10/truck/mo (archive 2025-12-07), plus tier-upgrade observations from 100 G2 reviewers. Admin time assumes 1.5 hrs per renewal (drive + wait + retry) at $40/hr loaded rate. Compliance retainer ranges per industry benchmarks (MySafetyManager DOT compliance pricing, Trucksafe safety-director survey) — basic DQ file service runs $5-15/driver/mo; outsourced safety director $1,500-5,000+/mo. State fees pass through to the state in either model — not counted in 'savings.' Your actual numbers will differ — book a demo and we'll compare to your current invoices line by line.
The real bill
Fleetio publishes per-vehicle pricing at fleetio.com/pricing: $4/$7/$10 per vehicle per month (Essential / Professional / Premium). The full feature set sits on Premium at $10/truck/mo — a 30-truck fleet pays $300/mo there. G2 reviewers flag that advanced features require tier upgrades and that per-vehicle cost scales with fleet size. Then add your admin's hours on manual state filing. Then add a compliance consultant — or pay the DOT audit fine when a DQ file lapses. Three cost centers, and the software still doesn't file one form.
Fleetio stack
Three vendors. Three invoices. Three support queues.

Dockex Professional
Software + filing agent + compliance — one login.
Annual bill, filing included
$2,388 flat + 4% commission on new-registration filings
Dockex replaces your tag agent and compliance consultant — and does the filing the rest leave to you.
One price. One dashboard. One place to look when a truck is off the road.
Competitor pricing sourced from Capterra, G2, and public carrier reports; actual pricing varies by region, reseller, and plan. Figures current as of 2026.
The 12 things Fleetio won't do
Across 100 public G2 reviews of Fleetio, the terms below appear zero times. Not as a strength. Not as a gap. Not as a feature request. The silence is the product.
Dockex does all 12. Not as reminders. As signed, timestamped submissions. State filings done-for-you in Oklahoma (Texas next) under a signed authorization; federal 2290 and UCR filed for you nationwide on Professional and up. No second tag agent. No consultant. One login. One bill.

From the shop floor
Unsanitized. No star rating to hide behind. A Class-8 truck technician running a 40-truck fleet, posted publicly to r/DieselTechs.
When you add a photo for the CYA aspect, you have to get the hamster wheel running extra RPMs due to having to shorten the Photo Decription into a few words to fit in the first box because the actual large description box below doesn't show up anywhere after you add it (A fleetio Representitive said they are working on that issue).
Your physical inventory versus your Fleetio inventory is going to be 20,000 – 100,000 dollars off (but if you have a well organized parts room that'll cut the end of FY inventory from 2 weeks to 4 days).
I too prefer it on desktop over the App; App is often laggy, and can't type as many WPM as desktop.
If you don't have maintenance records or last complete maintenance miles for your equipment, it'll start the service interval from the last recorded mileage.
Riding the canoe in a burning lake as all the Leaders / Chiefs / Managers put processes in place thats undoing the whole accountability aspect this program was made for, making this program very confusing as well as tacking on more administrative time for the worker bees they're over-managing.
Translation: mobile app lags vs. desktop, photo attachment workflow is broken, inventory drifts five figures off reality, service intervals mis-calculate on import. Fleetio acknowledged the photo bug to the user publicly. Published May 2025.

Dockex answer
They took our money before onboarding
Sheila M. — G2
Founder-led, 15-minute onboarding. No implementation fee. No separate team you never meet. I pick up the call.
Implementation was rushed and generic
Matthew C. — G2
Dockex ships with a live sample-fleet sandbox at dockex.io/demo. Click through a fully-populated 28-truck Oklahoma carrier — Compliance Autopilot running, IFTA filed, 90 days of operations — before you ever touch your own data. No signup, no card.
Reporting is rigid, filters reset, no custom fields
Ashley B. — G2
Every report in Dockex is filterable on any field. CSV + PDF export on every list. Custom fields available from day one, not gated.
Mobile can't do what desktop does
Alfie B. — G2
Dockex is a PWA — identical codebase on phone and desktop. If you can do it on the web, you can do it on the truck.
Support tells you to live with it
Colton M. — G2
Design partners get direct Slack access to the founder. All tiers get replies from a human who built the feature, not a Zendesk queue.
Advanced features require upgrading
Andrew B. — G2
DQ files, D&A test-result tracking + MIS report, Clearinghouse, MVRs, inspections, and the AI Fleet Assistant — all included at every tier, not gated. Federal 2290/UCR are self-serve on every tier; the done-for-you filing service sits on Professional.
Per-vehicle pricing punishes growth
Robert L. — G2
Flat: $79 / $249 / $599. Grow from 5 trucks to 500 on Business. Fleetio's bill triples. Yours doesn't move.
Portal lags at crucial moments
Digvijay T. — G2
Dockex polls Samsara, Motive, and Geotab every few minutes. ELD data is fresh. If a truck moves, the map shows it.
No bulk vehicle import
Kelly C. — G2
Upload a CSV, import 500 vehicles, we decode every VIN via NHTSA and back-fill make/model/year automatically. Tested with a 1200-trailer bulk import in production.
Fleetio doesn't do DQ files / FMCSA / D&A
100 G2 reviews — zero mentions
Dockex was built for DOT-regulated carriers first. DQ files, drug & alcohol test-result tracking + the §382.403 annual MIS report (bring your existing consortium/TPA), FMCSA Clearinghouse query tracking + reminders, MVR auto-scoring, and CSA BASIC sync are the spine of the product.
Fleetio doesn't actually file anything
Every reminder-only review on G2
Dockex preps everywhere and files for you in Oklahoma (Texas next) — IRP, IFTA, and state registration/title done-for-you in-state, with Form 2290 and UCR self-serve on every plan and filed for you nationwide on Professional and up. Managed filing, not robot filing. You approve, we submit, your stamped confirmation comes back. No second tag agent invoice.
Inventory drifts $20k–$100k off reality
u/laxtaco — Reddit
Every part, work order, and PO in Dockex ties back to a single ledger line. Reconciliation is a single query, not a two-week stock count.
Photo workflow is broken — descriptions disappear
u/laxtaco (Fleetio acknowledged publicly)
Dockex attaches photos with full-length captions to inspections, work orders, and incidents. What you type is what you see.
Service intervals mis-calculate on import
u/laxtaco — Reddit
Dockex pulls odometer from your ELD / GPS telematics (Samsara, Motive, Geotab) alongside your fuel-log entries and uses the highest-confidence source. Service intervals anchor to real odometer, not last-recorded entry.

Every receipt, in full
Seven themes. Twenty-six verbatim quotes. Typos preserved. Star rating on every card. Every quote links to its source on G2. If you want to see the pattern yourself before switching, read it all.
The rush is real. Three of the four quotes below are from 5-star reviewers who still called implementation a disaster.
“TO NEW TO TELL WHAT WE LIKE ABOUT IT AS WE HAVEN'T EVEN HAD A SESSION TO UPLOAD OUR VEHICLES BUT THEY HAVE HAD OUR MONEY”
“It is somewhat expensive and the implementation process was very poor. The teams and people you're assiged were not great. They rusg you through the process and provide limited, very generic training.”
“The project implementation manager didn't seem very knowledgeable, so there is some opportunity there for training. We had to watch recorded videos and attend webinars to have our questions answered.”
“Getting it set up seem to be tha harest part of it.”
The #1 gripe across the whole review set. Filters reset. Custom reports hit walls.
“the reporting bugs me filters reset custom reports are rigid and it's hard to pull exactly the view I want without workarounds I also wish there were more flexible custom fields and that the mobile app did everything the desktop does”
“Honestly I'd love to see some more customization options in the reporting feature Sometimes I feel like I'm limited in how I can slice and dice the data”
“The reporting features could be more advanced especially for large fleets Customization options can feel limited when scaling and the mobile app lacks some desktop features”
“some users may find that Fleetio's customization options are limited, which could impact their ability to tailor the platform to their specific needs”
Purchase orders, inventory, custom fields, vehicle tracking — forced back to desktop.
“The only drawback so far is the fact that we can not manage purchase orders through the mobile application.”
“The mobile app could use more work with allowing full access to create new parts in inventory, create purchase orders etc. that can only be done through the web version.”
“Would like to see vehicle tracking thru the smart phone app.”
“Sometimes the mobile app can be a bit slow to load and I've had to restart it a few times”
The phrase is real. Multiple reviewers say resolution quality is poor.
“The team that manages Fleetio generally cannot offer in-depth support. More often than not, if I have an issue, I get a response back saying it is what it is and that I have to live with it.”
“Support hours are also limited which can be inconvenient for urgent issues”
“Fleetio was not willing to assist in setting up integrations with other platforms. They only gave us the API specs and didn't guide our team on testing.”
“Slow customer support, Its is more of a load tracking software to me as opposed to vehicle tracking.”
Basic features sit behind tier upgrades. Per-vehicle cost explodes at scale.
“While Fleetio works well I find that certain advanced features require upgrading and that can be a bit restrictive depending on your needs”
“small vendors can not afford fleetio we they need a team to manage it but small vendors have very tight budget so it can be a dislike . mostly we can get help from it but at a high price .”
“if you have a large fleet, you need to pay more to accommodate the fleet”
“The cost to add additional vehicles seem a bit high”
When you need an answer at a crucial moment, Fleetio may not have it.
“Sometimes the portal doesn't show accurate information and can lag when delivering the data I'm looking for. It could be an internet issue, but it's still frustrating—especially at crucial times.”
“the reports can take a little time to load when pulling a lot of data at once”
“Lack of Samsara integration for trailer meter reading makes it challenging sometimes to import trailer meters from Samsara to Fleetio. The API rate limit is low, making the API a little difficult to work with due high pipeline runtime. API documentation is also inaccurate at times.”
Manual imports. No bulk upload. Date fields that make you type the year.
“I have to import all my data manually. I wish there were a simple spread sheet to add all equipment at once in one upload.”
“some of the things are not quick and easy to key. Like dates for example, you have to key the entire date including year. It would be great if it defaulted to the current year and you only type the year if it is a previous year.”
“One thing I think is hard for our company is the mileage reading in combination with our fuel cards in WEX.”
No lock-in

Yes. Starter ($79/mo) includes every software feature — AI Fleet Assistant, API, DQ files, inspections, maintenance, fuel, expiration timeline, the works. The difference on Professional is labor: for Oklahoma carriers we prep AND submit your IRP, IFTA, and state registrations under a signed authorization (our team double-checks every submission), with 2290 and UCR filed for you nationwide. Other states, we prepare the filings and you or your tag agent submits. On Starter, you submit everything. Same software, different service level.
Full compliance tracker + federal filings (2290, UCR, MCS-150) work nationwide. State registration filing launches state-by-state — Oklahoma live today, Texas next. Outside those, your existing tag agent or your admin still handles in-state renewal while Dockex replaces your compliance + filings stack everywhere else.
First 10 DOT-regulated fleets get 50% off year 1, direct Slack with me (Bardia) for bug reports and roadmap input, and quarterly planning calls. In exchange: one written case study at day 90, logo on our site, 15-min monthly feedback call. See /design-partners for full terms.
Fleetio ships iOS and Android apps. Multiple Fleetio reviewers on G2 call out that purchase orders, parts inventory, and custom fields don't work on mobile and force you back to desktop. Dockex is a PWA — same codebase on phone and desktop. Every feature on web works on the truck.
Fleetio's help docs are extensive for maintenance + fuel workflows. They are silent on DQ files, FMCSA Clearinghouse, drug & alcohol result tracking, IFTA filing, IRP filing, and state registration. Those categories don't exist in their product, so they don't exist in their docs. Dockex is the category.
